Godfrey – If you ask me what has been one of my most memorable dining experiences since living in Godfrey, the answer would be, without hesitation, Toko Sushi & Boba, a Japanese restaurant that, interestingly, is right across from Lewis and Clark Community College. From the moment I first visited, I knew it was no ordinary place. Its welcoming atmosphere, fresh and delicious food, and diverse staff make it a place I always want to return to.
What struck me most when I walked in was the atmosphere. It’s not just a restaurant; it feels like an open, friendly, and very inclusive space. I was surprised to learn that three of the employees are students and most of the staff are international, which adds a unique touch to the atmosphere. This diversity is not only evident in the friendly and attentive service, but also in the passion with which they prepare each dish. I felt that they truly value each customer and strive to offer an authentic and enjoyable experience.
Speaking of the most important thing: the food. Toko Sushi & Boba more than delivers. I tried several types of rolls, and they were all fresh, with balanced flavors and original combinations. The rice was cooked to perfection, the fish was fresh, and the ingredients went together perfectly. Each bite was a little journey of flavors, and the best part is that it’s not heavy or overwhelming, which is often the case at other sushi restaurants. The menu is quite varied. You can find everything from classic rolls to more creative and daring options, some with a spicy touch or unusual ingredients that really surprise you.
Another strong point of Toko Sushi & Boba is its service. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and efficient, without being intrusive. You can tell that they value their customers and enjoy what they do. From giving recommendations to explaining ingredients or suggesting combinations, they are always willing to help and make your experience as pleasant as possible. This level of attention makes you want to come back not only for the food, but also for the atmosphere and quality of service.
Ultimately, what makes Toko Sushi & Boba special is not just its location across from Lewis and Clark Community College, but the complete experience it offers. From the inclusivity and diversity of its staff to the freshness of the food, the creativity of the dishes, and the welcoming atmosphere, everything is designed to make customers feel welcome and enjoy every visit.
In short, if you’re in Godfrey or near LC and looking for a restaurant that offers quality food, an inclusive atmosphere, and exceptional service, Toko Sushi & Boba is the perfect choice. Every detail, from the presentation of the dishes on wooden boats to the freshness of the sushi and the quality of the boba, shows that they care about the customer experience here. My advice: don’t miss the opportunity to try it, because as a student and lover of good food, I can say without hesitation that I loved it and will be back many more times.
