Have You Met Tara Rayls-Goetz?

Morgan Leathers Avatar

Tara was inspired to become a teacher because she enjoyed all the graphic and web design classes she took when she was a student here at Lewis & Clark. Steve Campbell and Kim Price (who was Adjunct Faculty at the time) made all the difference in my learning experience. Their love for teaching design was contagious. That is when I realized I wanted to come back to Lewis & Clark and teach someday. This is now her seventeenth-year teaching in the Graphic & Web Design department.

Her favorite classes to teach are Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe and design. She enjoys because it allows for endless creativity, and it is her go-to for most graphic design projects. But Tara also has a love for layout and publication design, and InDesign allows for both print and digital publishing.

Something you may not know about Tara is that in addition to teaching, she also has a blog. It allows her to incorporate design and share about my family’s life, faith, and sunrise / sunset views in rural Illinois.

Teachers Advice:

“My advice to any student who is thinking about pursuing art or design in college or as a career would be to work hard and never limit yourself. Challenge yourself to continually grow as a person and as a designer and make your degree and design experience work for you.”

“I hope my students know how much I want them to be successful in and out of the classroom and what they have learned in my classes continues to inspire them to create great designs.”
