Lewis and Clark’s Performance Assessed Competency Education (PACE) program offers a flexible way to earn college credit by demonstrating your skills instead of spending a set amount of time in the classroom.
PACE is currently available alongside the traditional credit-hour option in our Welding Technology program, as well as in select courses. The program lets students work through course material on their own schedule and at their own pace. Along the way, instructors provide guidance, answer questions, and assess students as they build and demonstrate their skills.
Instead of finishing a course in a traditional 8- or 16-week semester, you’ll complete it once you’ve mastered the required skills and competencies.
PACE can be a great option for students who already have experience or knowledge in a subject. Whether you’ve learned on the job, through military service, previous coursework, or other life experiences, you may be able to move through your program more quickly by building on what you already know.
Lewis and Clark is continuing to expand PACE into additional programs. To learn more, contact Dr. Kate Kessler.
