Godfrey – The Spring 2026 semester introduces a valuable tool for student mental health. The LC Counseling Department is now offering art therapy services, providing a creative and alternative approach to emotional well-being.
What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy provides students with a supportive space to explore their thoughts and feelings through creative expression. Unlike a traditional art class, the emphasis is placed on the following:
Focus on the Process: The priority is the experience of creating, rather than the final product.
No Experience Needed: Students do not need prior art skills or experience to participate.
About the Provider
Services are facilitated by Meagan, an art therapy intern and master’s student in the Art Therapy program at SIUE. Her involvement brings academic expertise and dedicated support to the student body.
