Godfrey – The Lewis & Clark Women’s Soccer team earned a 1-1 draw on the road against McKendree University in a highly competitive match that showcased the team’s resilience.
The game started evenly, with both sides well organized and limiting clear chances. LC broke the deadlock in the first half with a stunning long-range strike from outside the box. The British forward continues her excellent form, scoring in her third consecutive match and proving to be a key player in attack.
McKendree responded strongly, creating several dangerous opportunities before halftime. However, Agathe, LC’s goalkeeper, delivered an outstanding performance, making crucial saves to preserve her team’s lead.
In the second half, the match became more physical, with intensity rising and frequent fouls disrupting the rhythm. McKendree pushed forward and found the equalizer with 15 minutes remaining, as a floated cross turned tricky in the air and slipped past Laura, who was unable to control it.
After the match, LC player Andrea Rodriguez reflected on the team’s performance: “We knew it was going to be a tough game, and I think the team responded really well. We competed until the very end, and that’s what matters most.”
She also emphasized the team’s mentality: “We had some very good moments, especially in the first half. Of course, we wanted the win, but this point shows that we are a team that never gives up.”
With this result, LC takes a valuable point from a difficult away match and now turns its focus to the next game against Missouri Baptist University, where they will look to return to winning ways.
