As Student Activities President, this writer has the exclusive on what exciting programming we are thinking up. Unfortunately due to COVID, we have had to cancel annual favorites such as Fall Fest and other on-campus events. What we have been able to provide has been focused virtually to ensure the safety of not only our students, but also our staff and faculty as well.

The last couple of weeks of September leading up to an action-packed October have a few exciting activities that I am looking forward to including a Netflix Movie Night Party that starts Friday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. The link to join will be posted on the L&C Student Activities Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/LewisandClarkStudentActivities/ immediately before the movie is set to begin. The movie chosen by students for this week will be announced soon.

Award-winning performer Carlos Andrés Gómez
will be speaking Sept. 22 at 3: p.m. on Zoom.

In celebration of National Hispanic Month, which began Tuesday, Sept. 15 and runs until Thursday, Oct. 15, L&C, in partnership with six other colleges, booked Carlos Andrés Gómez, an award-winning performer, public speaker and educator to create one of the most captivating and sought-after programs you will ever see on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 3 p.m. on Zoom.

This performance engages diversity, inclusion, equality, healthy masculinity and gender equity. Carlos’s work is enhanced by best practices in diversity and education and utilizes interactive exchange, facilitated dialogue and storytelling. Those critical tools, along with spoken word poetry, humor and improv, are used to concoct a routine unlike any other.

Below is the link to join the Zoom, and it will be posted on Blackboard as well as the L&C Student Activities Facebook page.

Compete in the Sept. 22 Family Feud for your
chance to win a L&C facemask.

Tuesday, Sept. 22 is a busy day because after Carlos’ performance at 3 p.m., L&C Student Activities will be hosting a fun night of chances of winning prizes playing Family Feud on Zoom. Battle your school mates at 6:30 p.m. on a link that will be posted on Blackboard and the Facebook page, and you could win your choice of a gift card or one of the awesome new L&C face masks. The link to join will be released on the day of the event.

L&C is proud to announce that it will be offering free, yes you heard me correctly, FREE yoga classes on a trial basis via Zoom with a hopeful start date of Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 6 p.m. The classes will be taught by Louise M. Hamlin-Laird, a Certified Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher and Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider.

The class will be called a Flow & Restore Class and will incorporate slower energetic movements, breathwork, and restorative poses with modifications to allow the class to be suitable for all levels of experience. There is a hope that this will be a great benefit to not only students, but also staff and faculty as well, as stress and tension levels are at level highs right now.

Make sure you keep an eye out for next month’s upcoming events preview; October is always a month that I am most excited for! For questions or information, please contact Jenna Shelton at jshelton@lc.edu.
