L&C’s head soccer coach, Tim Rooney, has been named Central Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The NSCAA was founded in 1941 and now includes more than 30,000 coaches of both genders at all levels of soccer. Coach Rooney has also been nominated for NSCAA National Coach of the Year after coaching his team to 10th place rank in the nation. “It is an honor to be recognized by the NSCAA and it reflects the strength of our players and program,” Rooney said.
The NSCAA has also recognized one outstanding female soccer player. Kiersten Mottl is a Sophomore Midfielder for L&C and had been named First Team All-American. Mottl ended the 2011 season leading the Trailblazers with 45 points, including 17 goals and 11 assists.
