Welcome back, your dreams were your ticket out. Welcome back, to that same old place that you laughed about.” – Welcome Back Kotter.

Another fall semester is underway here at Lewis and Clark Community College and on Wednesday, Aug. 22, as a part of the Welcome Back festivities, Student Activities hosted a “luncheon” from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Fountain Courtyard. This is the eighth or ninth year that Student Activities has hosted this event, according to Jarred Hennings, the Coordinator of Student Activities. This year attendants were offered hot dogs, hamburgers, potato chips, soda, and a ticket redeemable for a treat from the icecream truck that was on hand.

Fortunately, the weather was impeccable with a nearly cloudless day and a high temperature 81 degrees. On hand for the entertainment were Nathan Sickmeier, Anthony Nanney, and Ashley Haynes, members of the local band “Crossed The Line”, who often perform at the popular local restaurant “Fast Eddie’s Bon Air”.

There was a large turnout of students and faculty, although somewhat intermittent, as some students gathered with friends on the lawn to enjoy the free food and music, while others could only spare a few minutes to refuel while passing between classes.

“Welcome Back Week ranks number two on my list of favorite student activities,” commented returning sophomore Zach Sievers.

“The food was awesome, and I think that it is really great that student activities can host so many wonderful events for us,” remarked a grateful Katie Malone.

Anyone interested in dates of upcoming student activities, or donating their time at future events can obtain a calendar and any other pertinent information from Jarred Hennings by emailing him at jhenning@lc.edu.
