Just in time for Thanksgiving! The Storehouse Food Pantry will be hosting a grand opening of their new location at 3420 College Ave in Alton, Illinois on November 20th. The Storehouse will be holding their grand opening from 11am – 1pm. They will have a tour of the pantry, bratwurst, chips, and soda available for all who attend. The official ribbon cutting will be at 12 p.m. They will also have local entertainment, face painting, and opportunities to register for food, volunteer, and donate to the ministry. During the grand opening, the first 100 registrants will receive a Thanksgiving basket!
The Storehouse started their non-profit food pantry to serve their community and help eliminate hunger. “We believe that no one can envision change for a brighter future when they struggle with hunger. No parent should be forced to choose between feeding their child or paying the utility bill. No senior citizen should be forced to skip meals or buy cheap processed foods with their limited income,” they said on their website.
Last year, one of their food pantries closed because of the COVID-19 outbreak and they had trouble reopening that location. During this time they sought to establish their own 501.c.3 status with the IRS. The complications of reopening were finally overcome after a long process with the IRS. Now they are excited to host the grand opening of their new location! Their entire staff is made up of generous volunteer workers. Without the help of these marvelous people they would not be able to provide for their community.
