Let it be said clearly, right here on the record, that I loved Mamma Mia in 2008. I love the cast, I loved the setting, I loved the plot, and I loved the music. So, ten years later, now that Mamma Mia 2 is about to come out, I am holding my breath in anticipation.

The original movie from 2008 told the story of a girl named Sophie about to get married on a quest to find her father, narrowing it down to three men, but having no idea which one is her actual father.

This time around though, Sophie is pregnant and contemplating her mother’s life and how it must’ve been when she was a young woman.

We then get to see through flashbacks as Lily James takes on Meryl Streep’s role as playing the young Donna as we watch her love story play out, leading to the events of Sophie’s birth. We will also hear the classic songs done in a new style, and get to enjoy it all over again!

I am so excited for this movie, that July twentieth can’t come fast enough. I will plan to see it with all the carefree excitement of a dancing queen.

I am excited to see how Sophie’s character will handle the impending responsibility of motherhood, and be able to view things more from her mother’s perspective. I love Amanda Seyfried, and her acting as Sophie in the original was a phenomenal performance that I’m excited to see be done again. Meryl Streep, the goddess of acting, will also be shown in Mamma Mia 2, which I’m sure everyone is excited for as well. The cast will no doubt be as phenomenal now as it was a decade ago. So for all the other Mamma Mia fans like me, get ready to throw on some overalls and turn your ABBA CD up on high as we wait for July 20th!
