The 18th Juried Art Exhibition at L&C opened to the public on Thursday, April 6, in Hatheway Hall. The event, along with the assortment of art itself, was held in Gallery A. Complimentary drinks and snacks were offered to guests.

The show was well-received, with over one hundred people attending the opening. It showcased the most proficient artists from L&C, spanning multiple styles, including drawing, painting, photography (digital and film), web design, 3D design, and more.

Out of over four hundred entries, ninety were chosen to be displayed. It was even more challenging for the faculty to choose the winners. The awards were announced and given to the artists during the opening. In addition to first, second, and third place winners, there were also three special recognitions and three honorable mentions.

The special recognitions went to Kayla Rudolph’s “Self-portrait in Green” (Basic Design), Laura Perry’s “Cactus Box” (3D Design), and Mary Curvey’s “Burden” (Drawing). The honorable mentions were Madison Baca’s “Passion Fruit” (Digital Illustration), Jeannette Carrington’s “Solitude in the Desert” (Photo Composite), and Ryan Kuhn’s “Electric Eye” (3D Design).

Third place was awarded to Grace Becker’s “Lamb Still Life” (Drawing), second place went to Laura Shansey’s “Sunrise Crane” (Digital Photography), and first place was awarded to Daniel McDonald’s “Still Life with Bowling Pin” (Drawing).

The gallery is open on weekdays from 10am to 4pm, Saturdays from 10am to 2pm, and closed on Sundays. The Art Exhibition runs through April 30, 2023.
