In case if you ever wondered, yes, there really is a holiday for everything out there now. So, I decided to track down some of the weirdest holidays that stuck out to me to share with you all. Make sure to mark your calendars, everyone!
1.) January 1- National Hangover Day
This one feels a bit satirical in nature, obviously referencing the people who undoubtedly partied a little too hard for New Year’s Eve. I imagine celebrating this holiday with eggs, tylenol and trying to avoid bright lights or loud noises.
2.) February 5- National Shower With a Friend Day
Is this a thing people do often enough for there to be a holiday about it? I do not know about the rest of you, but this may be one holiday that I choose to not participate in, as my shower time is my alone time.
3.) March 10- National Landline Telephone Day
I would recommend celebrating by calling someone on a landline, but who actually has landlines anymore?
4.) April 14- National Ex-Spouse Day
This day was actually made in order to make peace with a past divorce and move on peacefully, which is shockingly healthy considering the title of the holiday. For any divorced folks out there, may I recommend this in place of Valentine’s Day?
5.) May 7- World Password Day
Literally do not tell anyone your passwords. I cannot imagine any better way to celebrate this odd holiday.
6.) June 20- Ugliest Dog Day
This holiday should actually be abolished, because there is no such thing as an ugly dog. All dogs are good dogs that are adorable and deserve to be loved, thank you very much.
7.) July 3-9- Be Nice to Jersey Week
Okay, this one is just hilarious. For my friends in New York especially, I am sure you will get a big kick out of this one!
8.) Second Sunday in August- National Melon Day
Eat all the melons you can on this day, and enjoy the juicy refreshing feeling it will give you!
9.) September 19- National Meow Like a Pirate Day
I am not sure what I was expecting when I started this article, but this holiday was certainly not it. I would celebrate this by watching “Pirates of the Carribean” with your cat and letting them show you how it is done.
10.) October 1- National Hair Day
I am not sure if this is a reference to the musical “Hair”, or to literally the hair growing out of people’s heads. I suppose the best way to celebrate would be trying out a new hairstyle while listening to the soundtrack? I apologize in advance to my bald readers out there unable to participate in this particular holiday.
11.) November 30- National Mason Jar Day
I actually have no idea exactly how to celebrate this holiday. Maybe drink from a jar? Wow, I really was not exaggerating when I said there was a holiday for literally everything.
12.) December 18- Answer The Telephone Like Buddy The Elf Day
Okay, this one is just plain funny and self-explanatory. I will actually be trying this in December! Everyone in my contacts list, look out!
