Fall Fest was held and organized by Student Activities on Wednesday, Sept. 18, in the Commons and the Grove at Lewis and Clark (LC).

Fall Fest offered a myriad of games, activities, and food; catering was provided by Nicky G’s Italian Eats. Most of the entertainment was in the Commons; however, the Grove hosted a DJ, a rock-climbing wall, and a face paint booth. As usual, there were many free items offered by the SGA, Marketing & PR, and Enrollment employees, including a care package and school merchandise.

“The turnout was great,” Student Activities leader Jared Hennings said. “We had a quota of 800 students attending, and we just about hit it.”

Hennings has been a part of the LC faculty for over 20 years, and he believes events like Fall Fest encapsulate the true spirit of the school and its people – moving forward with one’s education to do good in the world. He said, “Not only is Fall Fest a good way to connect with students, but it’s an amazing way to widen your social network on the way to your job in the future.”

The new students seem to think alike – freshman Jazmine Piper shared similar sentiments: “Fall Fest is definitely a good way to connect with students, it brings a big crowd and fun activities to LC.”

Fall Fest serves as a social benchmark for the school; it also gives the staff and students a breath of fresh air. As the worries from the COVID-19 pandemic settled and socialization has become a part of society’s normal again, more students have had the pleasure of joining LC’s student body. The amount of faculty versus students has begun to level out in the oncoming school year, which has greatly affected attendance.

“There has been a stabilization of the student body pre- and post-COVID. Attendance is increasing, so it should channel into other events that we hold in the future,” Hennings shared. “The faculty and staff feel more energizes because there’s more students to teach and spread the spirit of LC to.”
