Lewis and Clark Community College (LC)’s annual Discover Day will be held on Feb. 17, 2020, in the Commons of the Math and Science building from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for LC students and the general public alike. Discover Day is an event held once every semester during Columbus Day and Presidents Day for specifically the local high school students who have the day off from regular school scheduling in order to come to LC and see the various groups and benefits offered by LC.
The event is held within the hope that teenagers may become prospective LC students themselves, and be more informed on what the campus may offer one’s future. There are many groups in regular attendance, such as clubs and informants on behalf of LC, to get proper financial aid or scholarship opportunities. The groups are usually set up with their own specific stations throughout the room for people to walk up to and visit. A few examples of annual groups in attendance include Trailblazer Commons, Financial Aid, The Bridge, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Student Government Association, LC Pride and Active Minds.
The event will also most definitely offer games, giveaways, possibly provide a photo booth, as well as walking tacos that will be provided by the Student Activities group, as is how the event is usually displayed every semester. The event has been known in the past to be very anticipated and well-attended by both LC students and other Madison County citizens. The event has been useful in the past on informing teenagers on everything that LC has to offer from housing at Trailblazer Commons, to the different types of sports and clubs they could join should they choose to one day attend Lewis and Clark Community College for themselves.
