It was another exciting day for football as this year’s Superbowl game aired on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019. This year showed the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams playing for the Superbowl championship in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. To the surprise of many, there wasn’t very much excitement in the first half of the game, each team earning only a field goal. As the game seemed to practically fly by in comparison to previous games, it truly was a nail biter for the observers both present and at home, as the second quarter of the game ended with the teams tied scored 3-3.

The halftime show provided a wonderful break for fans both in attendance at the stadium, as well as for all the fans watching at home. Maroon 5 performed with Travis Scott and Big Boi, featuring popular songs such as “She Will Be Loved”, “Girls Like You”, “This Love”, “Sugar”, “Sicko Mode”, and “The Way You Move.” The show also included a cutaway introduction presented by Spongebob to welcome Travis Scott to the stage. Big Boi’s entrance was also particularly memorable as he rolled up in an antique Cadillac convertible to the stage while wearing a giant stylish fur coat. The show also provided various wonderful effects, such as floating lanterns that formed the words “One love” in the sky behind the performers.

During the second half of the Superbowl game is when the action seemed to really pick up! While this isn’t the first year that quarterback Tom Brady brought a Superbowl victory to the Patriots, the game certainly had a lot of other firsts! For the first time in NFL Superbowl history, neither the Patriots or the Rams scored a touchdown until the fourth quarter, after being tied with 3 points for a majority of the game. After the Patriots scored a touchdown and a field goal, however, the team received their sixth Superbowl win with a score of 13-3.
